Accounting Assistant

Grain Millers, Inc. is a leading provider of whole grain ingredients used in cereals, breads, bars, snacks and many other food products throughout North America. Proudly we have had no layoffs in our 35+ year history. Currently we are looking for an Accounting Assistant to work Monday thru Friday. Position Summary

Maintain plant inventory records. Maintain various reports relative to inventory cost systems. Work in conjunction with the Plant Controller to assure a timely month-end close. Assist with Accounts Payable function.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize daily production reports to update accounting records
  • Ensure accurate reporting of incoming raw and component material
  • Close inventory PO's upon completion
  • Maintain inventory record retention
  • Set up and maintain inventory ID's in accordance with company policy
  • Assist Plant Controller
  • Fixed asset management
  • Perform bank desktop deposits
  • Assist in preparation for annual audit
  • Audit inventory ID setup for consistency and accuracy
  • Audit fixed asset records for completeness, existence, and accuracy as well as consistency with maintenance records
  • Assist A/P
  • Review reconciled voucher support to assist in determining appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain freight due schedule daily

Essential Qualification

  • BA or BS degree in accounting or finance
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • An understanding of accounting and its operations
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team
  • Proficient use of Windows, Microsoft Office and other accounting systems
  • Ability to be versatile and work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Must maintain confidentiality
  • Must present a professional, business-like appearance and manner
